Tutor: Matthew Taylor
2010 marks the 200th anniversary of Chopin's birth. For many years, one of the best loved 19th century composers, Chopin is still a figure that provokes controversy. Were his leanings towards Classicism or Romanticism?, was he a salon composer or a modernist?, was he a traditionalist or a radical at heart? This course will examine these thoughts, focusing on his piano music but also exploring the songs, chamber music and works for piano and orchestra. So, do join us for this ten week Chopin celebration!
