Blackheath Halls performed Benjamin Britten's Children's Opera 'The Little Sweep' on 12 and 13 April 2014. The production had a cast of over 60 local children and young people as well as a small group of adults.
'I have been inspired so much by working with such talented people. I am so grateful for this wonderful opportunity, and do hope that I will be part of some more in the future.'
'It was one of the most enthralling experiences in my life, it was great fun, it was wonderful to work with friends in a proper professional production and it was so satisfying when everyone applauded at the end.'
'She gained so much. She loved everything about it from start to finish. The music, the acting, the whole process and above all the social interaction.'
This has been a remarkable experience for her. What a fantastic opportunity. She has seen how a production is put together, and understood the commitment required to pull something off at a professional standard - a process she has thoroughly enjoyed. It has boosted her confidence on stage, and introduced her to opera - an art form she hadn't previously experienced.
A great introduction to opera for the children. The staging was excellent and even my 2 year old nephew was riveted!
