The Royal Greenwich Youth Orchestra
With great regret current rehearsals are cancelled due to events relating to the coronavirus.
The Royal Greenwich Youth Orchestra (RGYO) is generously funded by Arts Council England, is a partnership between the Royal Greenwich Music Hub, Blackheath Halls, the Blackheath Conservatoire and the London Symphony Orchestra and is offered free of charge to its members.
Conducted by Edward Farmer, the orchestra is open to all Royal Greenwich young people aged 8 and above who play orchestral instruments at grade 3 standard.
Edward Farmer is a conductor and composer working in Film, Television, and live performance. He has worked with many top professional orchestras including London Philharmonic Orchestra, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Budapest Festival Orchestra, and as an educator with youth orchestras at University and Conservatoire level.
Weekly rehearsals take place on Monday evenings at Blackheath Halls, and will offer local young Royal Greenwich residents the opportunity to make music and make friends with other like-minded young people. Each terms ends with a concert for families, friends and members of the public.
Recent repertoire includes Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, Brahms’s Academic Festival Overture, Mozart’s German Dances and Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story.
Time: 18.30 – 20.30
