Mirzayeva Bach Triptych
Born in Stockholm to an Indonesian father and Swedish mother, Viktor Erik Emanuel began his piano journey at age ten. He moved to London in 2004 to study at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and later earned a Master of Arts in Piano Performance and LRAM Teaching Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music.
Viktor currently serves as Head of Piano Studies at the Lanterns School of Performing Arts in London and is the House Concert Pianist for Ballet Nights. He also performs internationally in solo recitals, chamber music, and cross-art collaborations.
Gunel Mirzayeva‘s pivotal 2006 journey from Azerbaijan to London opened doors to extraordinary opportunities, leading to electrifying performances at prestigious venues including London’s Wigmore Hall and Barbican Hall, and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw. For this recital Gunel returns with her Bach Mugham project, having previously performed this piece in 2022. She weaves together Bach’s compositions with Azerbaijani mugham – a highly-embellished genre, consisting of improvised melodic patterns explored throughout repeated sections within a composition. Through spontaneous embellishment and careful balance, Mirzayeva creates a distinctive musical dialogue between Eastern and Western classical traditions.
