Public performance by professional, student and community artists is at the heart of Blackheath Halls’ busy programme. If you would like to hold your concert or performance at this very special venue, please read on for further information.

We have two available spaces to suit your needs, the Great Hall and The Hearn Recital Room.

Great Hall

Cabaret style seating: 250
Formal theatre seating: 500
Standing: 1,000*

These capacity guidelines must include all performers and staff. *When capacity reaches this level in the Great Hall, we advise hirers to consider use of The Hearn Recital Room (if available) as an auxiliary front of house and/or bar space.

Hire fee includes

Duty Manager for duration of hire period

Duty Technician for duration of hire period

Statutory Front of House stewarding for three-hour concert (excluding Programme Sellers and Cloakroom Attendants)

Basic audience chair set-up

Use of chairs, music stands, conductor's stand and podium (if required)

Use of basic in-house public address system for speech and playback, if required (Sound Engineer not included).

Parking for instrument delivery (subject to prior arrangement).

Limited parking (Great Hall 6 spaces; The Hearn Recital Room 3 spaces) for hirer by prior arrangement.

Artists’ Dressing Rooms (two for Great Hall; one for The Hearn Recital Room)

Bar Manager and staff to open the Bar one hour before performance, during the interval (if applicable) and until thirty minutes following performance, subject to confirmation of event capacity.

All hire and services rates are subject to VAT and an increase on Bank Holiday weekends.
Rates are negotiable for block bookings.
Registered charities, voluntary and educational organisations may be eligible for reduced rates.

Merchandise

Permission to sell merchandise must be sought in advance of the performance. Blackheath Halls retains commission from merchandise sales of 30% + VAT of the gross takings if we sell merchandise on behalf of the incoming promoter and provide the float. If you, as the incoming promoter, sell merchandise at the venue and provide your own float and staff, we retain 15% + VAT of gross takings.

We can arrange for programme sellers subject to commission being charged on all sales.

Performing Rights Society (PRS)

Concert promoters are required to supply PRS information at the end of the performance so that a venue PRS return can be submitted (if required). PRS charges will be deducted from the box office reconciliation (between 4.2%-6.5% + vat depending on repertoire).

Recording and Filming

If you wish to record, webcast or broadcast the performance, notification must be given as early as possible and at least six weeks prior to the performance date. This is subject to approval by Blackheath Halls, and an additional fee is payable.
