Yana Burova graduated with MMus and Distinction at Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 2004. She has since appeared in major venues such as St Martin in-the-Fields, St John’s Smith Square, St Paul’s Cathedral, Leighton House Museum, Kings Place and in 2013 she made her debut performance at the Wigmore Hall.
Yana participates in festivals throughout England and Europe; she regularly appears in her home town at the Varna International Summer Festival in Bulgaria. She has also participated in the Sofia Musical Weeks at the Conway Hall as part of a London Festival of Bulgarian Culture.
Her performances are often broadcast and she has recorded several CDs, including one of music for Violin and Piano music by 20th century Bulgarian Composers.
In addition to performing, Yana teaches the violin and viola at Emanuel School in London, Eltham Church of England School, piano at Eton College and has recently been appointed at Junior Guildhall School.
Evgenia Startseva, born in Kazakhstan, is a pianist with an international concert career both as soloist and chamber musician. She studied at The Russian Gnessins’ Academy of Music and subsequently as a postgraduate at Moscow State Conservatoire followed by the Musikhoch-schule in Saarbrücken.
Evgenia’s concert schedule has taken her to the former USSR, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Ireland, Greece, Mexico, South Africa, the United States and here in the UK, where she lives. She has featured in numerous broadcasts for ITV and Sky Arts TV (UK), Südwestrundfunk (Baden-Baden), ORF2 (Vienna), Westdeutscher Rundfunk (Cologne), RTE (Ireland), Saarlländischer Rundfunk(Germany) and Eastern Kazakhstan Television.
In addition to her many solo piano recitals, Evgenia has performed as chamber music partner with such outstanding musicians as Maxim Vengerov, Alisa Weilerstein, Nadezhda Korshakova, her husband Yuri Paterson-Olenich, Ebéne String Quartet, and the viola duo Peter Mallinson and Matthias Wiesner.
Evgenia is giving a recital with Maxim Vengerov at Trogir in Croatia on 4th July which includes each one of the three Beethoven Violin Sonatas she is playing at this recital.
