On the eve of Franz Schubert’s birthday, SongEasel reimagines a Schubert salon concert in the Hearn Recital Room, featuring some of his best-loved works. SongEasel’s Artistic Director joins rich-voiced mezzo soprano Lucy Gibbs and exciting young tenor Itamar Hildesheim for a memorable and heart-warming evening of Song.

Audiences will be transported through a thoughtfully assembled programme of favourites such as An die Musik, Die Forelle, Erlkönig, and the serene Ave Maria, alongside settings of Goethe, Müller, Mayrhofer and Rellstab. The programme showcases the extraordinary versatility of Schubert’s vocal writing with songs from across his life and output.

Lucy Gibbs “bright, vibrant mezzo” has been described as “resonating like a divine decree”. A recent graduate of the International Opera Academy in Ghent, she is also an alumna of SongEasel’s Young Artist Programme. She shares the stage with fast-rising young tenor and recent graduate of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Itamar Hildesheim, bringing charisma and expressive nuance to some of Schubert’s best-loved songs. SongEasel’s Artistic Director, acclaimed pianist Jocelyn Freeman completes the ensemble, shaping the evening with her profound affinity with the Schubertian tradition.

Your ticket includes a glass of Schilcher, the Austrian rosé beloved by Schubert, or a soft drink if you prefer.
