Re-imagining George Russell’s Living Time
Award-winning pianist and composer Deschanel Gordon joins forces with the TLJO in a new and unique project centred around George Russell’s seminal 1972 recording Living Time for a 20 piece jazz orchestra and pianist Bill Evans.

The event is part of Trinity Laban’s new initiative Don’t Stop the Carnival. As part of its commitment to amplify the music by hitherto under-represented composers and following on from the focus on the music of female composers in its 2018-19 ‘Venus Blazing’ series, the Faculty of Music’s public performance programme over the next two academic years will seek to highlight and celebrate the work of Black British composers and Black musical artists in Britain”. The repertoire we present will range across all genres, featuring solo, small and large ensemble, and staged performances, with selected works set in the context of music by composers from other backgrounds whose work is also frequently overlooked in mainstream programming.
